The intelligent LED light source installed in the factory can simulate the solar spectrum and meet the lighting needs of plants, becoming the "little sun" for plant growth.
According to the report, plant factories can precisely regulate the light environment elements according to different plant growth periods, which is equivalent to customized "light formula" for plants. The LED light on the top of the rack is a substitute for sunlight, which can promote plants to flower earlier and set faster.
Yang pointed out that the magic of the plant factory is that it can fast forward the growth of crops, which helps researchers to produce more results in a limited time.
In the field environment, it takes about 120-160 days for rice seedlings to be raised, transplanted and harvested. In a "plant factory" environment, it takes only about 60 days to plant seeds, raise seedlings and harvest. The growth period of rice is shortened by more than half, which greatly saves the time cost of breeders. After passing the test, there was no difference between taste and quality in the field environment.
At the same time, plant factories are not limited by region and space, and can be built near experimental buildings or breeding units. The number of cultivation floors can reach more than 10, which maximizes the use of space and saves the time cost of breeding scientists.
The intelligent LED plant factory of Yang Qichang team is a kind of advanced agricultural form to realize the fine production of plants. Leafy vegetables, fruits and vegetables, medicinal plants, edible flowers and so on can be planted in the "plant factory".
